Paintable Tongue & Groove Panelling Packs – Quick & Easy Installation

Not only does the width of our paintable tongue-and-groove panelling packs allow them to be shipped throughout the whole of the UK mainland, it also makes them easier to handle and install.

To provide the highest level of flexibility, our panels are available with the option to choose between unprimed or primed, six standard pitch widths, three panel thicknesses and six panel sizes.

Our paintable wall panelling is produced in-house from a high-quality, moisture-resistant MDF. The dense nature and moisture-resistant characteristics of this board make it perfect for painting with less sanding required in the grooves compared to lower quality MR or standard MDF boards.

Installing Tongue and Groove Panelling

There are two popular methods of fixing tongue and groove panelling to walls, adhesive or plug and screw with adhesive. The method you chose will depend on how bowed your panels are and the integrity of your wall surface.

Whichever method you choose we would recommend that you score the wall and the back of the panels to improve adhesion. A light coat or two of SBR or PVA on the wall will also help, especially on older dusty walls.

Once you have cut and test fitted your first panel apply a liberal amount of wall panelling adhesive to the rear of the panel. Offer the panel into position and then press it against the wall using plenty of pressure over the entire surface of the panel. This should be enough to hold it in place.

Regularly check the panel whilst the glue is setting, if it keeps coming unstuck you will either need to temporarily pin it or plug and screw it to the wall.

FAQs

We would generally recommend a low sheen oil or water based  such as a satinwood or eggshell finish. Gloss can be used but will show up any imperfections such brush strokes and pin holes etc.

Yes you can. We would recommend that you use a vinyl matt emulsion as this will allow you wipe the panelling clean should it get dirty (kids fingers prints etc).

No; however, we do offer a couple of solutions for this, either our cut to size tongue & groove wall panelling service.
