Extra deep tongue and groove panelling
Our T&G range is the ideal solution for people looking for an Extra Deep Tongue & Grooved Panelling.
The extra deep grooves are particularly effective when used in conjunction with a wider pitched design such as our 150mm or 200mm wide panels.
These wider deeper grooved panels are particularly suited to creating “New England” style wall panelling and interiors.
Bespoke Tongue and Groove Wall Panelling
Each of our T&G panels is CNC routed in-house. This means we can easily provide bespoke panels with custom spacings or cut to shape for a custom design – just get in touch with our team to discuss your bespoke tongue & groove panels.
As well as offering a custom pitch option our in-house capabilities also allow us to produce Bespoke Tongue and Groove Panelling including, but not limited to, the following:
- A range of panel thicknesses from 6mm to 30mm
- Custom pitch
- Custom grove width and depth
- Stopped, un-grooved, areas within the panelling for skirtings, sockets, sinks, back-to-wall toilets and push plates etc.
- Extra-deep, New England-style tongue and Groove interior wall cladding
- Diagonal and angled grooved wall panels
- Outdoor tongue and groove cladding
- Fire Rated Tongue and groove cladding for commercial interiors
- Pre-primed and pre-finished options
We also offer a large selection of tongue-and-groove panels in alternative materials such as black-dyed and coloured MDF and real wood veneer faced T&G panels in eucalyptus, oak and walnut.
How to measure Tongue & Groove Wall Cladding
The following is a basic guide on how to measure tongue & groove wall panelling for DIYers within a domestic environment. Please note that every wall and every situation is different, so please adjust the measurement allowances and advice to suit your own personal preferences and situation. We cannot accept any responsibility for incorrectly measured or ordered panels.
Measuring Panelling for One Wall
If you are fitting wall panelling to the full width of one wall, take three measurements to check the overall width: one at the bottom (skirting board level), one at the mid-height of the panelling and one from the top of the proposed height.
If all three measurements are the same, you’re in luck. Simply remove 2-3mm either end to allow for caulking and order the panelling to this width and your desired height. We will cut the panels to width and ensure the joins fall within a groove for minimum joint lines.
If the measurements differ, use the smallest measurement if you are happy to caulk the gaps at either end, or the longest measurement if you prefer to scribe in/shape to fit.
Measuring Panelling for Two Walls
Measure your first wall, as described above. You can remove around 2/3 to 3/4 of the panel thickness from the overall width, as it will be covered by the next panel.
Example 1 – Your first wall measures 3678mm and your panel thickness is 9mm. The calculation would be:
3678mm – 2mm (for caulking) – 7mm (3/4 of the panel thickness) = 3669mm (length of your first panel).
When measuring your second panel, remove 2mm either end for caulking plus the full panel thickness.
Example 2 – Your second wall measures 4005mm and your panel thickness is 9mm. The calculation would be:
4005mm – 4mm (2 x 2mm caulking) – 9mm (panel thickness) = 3992mm
Measuring Panelling for Three Walls
When measuring for three walls of interior cladding, remove 3/4 of the panel thickness from the second wall’s measurement. The third wall should be measured in the same way as shown in Example 2 above.
Measuring Panelling for Four Walls
When measuring interior wall cladding for four walls, the second and third walls should be measured as per Example 2. The fourth and final panel should be cut to fit between the first and third walls, so you will need to remove 22mm from the overall length.
Example 3 – Your wall measures 4005mm. The calculation would be:
4005mm – 4mm (2 x caulk gap, one either end) – 18mm (2 x panel thickness) = 3983mm.
Allowing for Doors within a Panelled Room
Naturally, at least one wall will have a door and architrave. We recommend measuring from the corner up to the door frame, then from the other side of the door frame to the corner, allowing 2mm for caulking. You will also need to allow for the thickness of any panels and/or caulking in the previous or following corner.
Measuring Interior Wall Cladding for External Corners
When dealing with an external corner, one panel will need to overhang whilst the other will butt up against it. The overhang should equal the panel thickness plus an allowance for adhesive.
Ensure that you push the panel butting up to the overhanging panel tightly against it, leaving no gap. You should run a bead of adhesive down the edge of the joint and temporarily use masking tape to hold it together. The glue will help prevent the joint from cracking.
